Thanks for stopping by, Mark and Gaz! The euphorbia is a little rescue plant from a lower, shadier area in the garden. It's the tiny little spot to the left of the bird's nest that I am watching. It's a Thymus lanuginosus that I planted last year and seemed to suffer in the heat - I guess I took the photo because it greened up again and I was rejoicing.
It is a bird's nest! Courtesy of previous gardener. If you look very closely you can see the dragonflies that he impressed on the plasterwork. The little purple flowers are ivy-leaved toadflax that I need to make sure I check here - although it is very pretty when controlled.
See above - the nest is courtesy of the previous (and very artistic) gardener here. The plants I have added/am working on. How strange - you live in the country of my roots (Canada)!

I learned to love plants many years ago when I gardened in London, but I started to learn how to garden properly when we came to this steep, south-facing slope in rainy north-east France in 2011.
