There was absolutely nothing to be done outside today ... it simply rained, and rained, and rained. And the little Apance river at the bottom of our garden rose, and rose ... and rose. Then, around 5pm, the sun came out.
The view from the balcony.
The bottom of the garden. How good are those coloured-stemmed willows going to be?
I couldn't have made anything as beautiful as this myself in a million years. A humbling experience.
Aren't you glad that you're living on a hill! Mind you, it was the same thing here so the garden is very soggy. Sunny and chilly today and the wind will hopefully dry up the place a little. As far as I can see your garden isn't flooded though, is it? Keep your chin up...it's the time of year for comfy armchairs, logfires, tea and good garden books :)
The view from your balcony is fantastic! The river looks quite powerful, but so beautiful, too, as the sun streams through the clouds.

I learned to love plants many years ago when I gardened in London, but I started to learn how to garden properly when we came to this steep, south-facing slope in rainy north-east France in 2011.
